Novell have released the latest version of XGL to the community. For those not in the know, this will allow Linux to use 3D graphics hardware (as built into most modern PCs) to display the desktop and applications. In principle it provides the possibility of the sort of eye-candy that MacOSX has had for a little while.
But today there was a new video released showing XGL in action (if you haven’t got the software to play it, I recommend VLC). Quite frankly, after watching this video I’m convinced that XGL is going to look even more impressive than OSX.
I can’t wait for this to land in Ubuntu.
