It looks like my wish for a common on-demand TV service might actually become reality with the BBC Trust’s approval of “Project Canvas”.

From the sounds of it they’re primarily targeting set-top boxes, though hopefully their current iPlayer implementations for various phones and games consoles will see an upgrade as well.

It’s just a shame that it will all be too late to save me from the dearth of TV channels I’m currently experiencing – well, unless they manage to set light to the transmitter again.
