Last Wednesday (4th July, 2012) scientists at CERN claimed the discovery of a particle “consistent with the Higgs boson”. As far as we’re concerned, if it looks like a duck, walks like a duck and sounds like a duck… then it probably is a Higgs boson. Or a duck.
To celebrate this occasion we’ve decided to create this bonus strip. No ducks were harmed during this process, but we can’t vouch for the bosons.

Caption: I pressed the fire control… and ahead of us lasers blazed through space…
Caption: A monstrous behemoth loomed large before us as we braced ourselves…
Caption: …for the inevitable collision
[Scene shows the spaceship exploding with debris flying off everywhere]
[Final scene shows the same debris pattern on a computer screen. It's labelled as "CERN: Large Hadron Collider" and an alert at the bottom says "HIGGS BOSON DETECTED"]
Scientist: With that one, I think we've found enough to go public
This one is a good one. But… where is the link to svg file ?
In order to get this one out while it’s still topical, we’ve posted it despite the Easter Egg not being finished yet. When it is (in a couple of days), we’ll post the SVG file.
The SVG file is now available for both this version of the comic and, thanks to Sam, the French translation.
