I’m sure there will be some people reading this who are already tutting under their breath, critical of our choice to base the comic on the 2008 remake of “The Day The Earth Stood Still“, rather than the original. To those people all I can say is that there is a reason.
As it turns out, neither of us have actually seen the remake – though we both grew up watching the original from time to time when it was shown on TV on a Sunday afternoon. We were probably too young to fully appreciate the underlying themes, but it certainly contributed to our love of old sci-fi B-movies… even if it was perhaps the most “A” of the “Bs”, with a proper studio and real financial backing behind it.
