Purists may notice that we’ve mixed up our Stargate franchises a little in this strip. We’ve drawn a stargate from the Milky Way galaxy – as it’s arguably the most iconic, and the most interesting to draw – but included a “Puddle Jumper” from Stargate Atlantis, which predominantly takes place in the Pegasus galaxy. A cynic might suggest that it’s just an excuse to include references to both Stargate SG-1 and Stargate Atlantis in the hope of boosting our page rank. But if that was the case then surely we would have found some excuse to mention Stargate Universe and even Stargate Infinity! 😉
The truth is simpler than that: this comic was originally intended to use a classic rubbish truck (garbage truck to readers from the US); the plans changed early on to use the back-end of a rubbish truck with the front of an Eagle transporter from Space: 1999 (much like we did here); finally when it came time to draw the ship, both those options seemed a little incongruous, so we went for something from the Stargate franchise instead.

G1: Some call it the Stargate. To others it is the Chappa'ai.
Yet others know it as the Astria Porta, the Annulus or the Ring Of The Gods.
G2: And what do we call it?
[Scene shows a Stargate Atlantis Puddle Jumper dumping rubbish into the stargate]
G1: The Waste Disposal
Stargate is one of my favourite programmes, so I really like this one.
Yep ! That’s exactly what would happen if we found something like that gate : it would be a boon for Areva and its mountains of radioactive garbage.
-facepalms- using the stargate as a bin….omg
