This strip first appeared in issue #276 of Linux Magazine. Although a little exaggerated,
this strip was borne of Mark’s real experience as a professional front-end web application developer.

James: So what do you actually *do* as a front-end web developer?

Elvie: About 10% of my time is spent writing new front-end code, while another 20% is spent fixing the code I wrote previously.

James: And the other 70%?

Elvie: I spend that digging through unfamiliar corners of the codebase attempting to get to the bottom of an issue, only to discover it was a back-end problem all along.

For over 25 years we’ve been creating comic strips, and for the past decade we’ve been putting them online for anyone to view or download under Creative Commons licenses. Cette planche a été publiée dans le no 2 du magazine Linux Voice. Ce numéro comporte un tutoriel sur la façon de créer une machine d’arcade avec une Raspberry Pi et un autre sur Grace Hopper. Ces deux idées ont été combinées dans cette B.D.

Notre bande-dessinée Elvie est une commande produite pour le magazine Linux Voice. Se démarquant d’autres magazines, Linux Voice publiera son contenu sous licence CC-BY-SA neuf mois après sa parution. La première de nos planches devait apparaître sur ce site dans peu de temps, mais nous avons décidé de créer cet « épisode zéro » pour présenter le personnage auparavant.

Cette B.D. est réalisée en utilisant MyPaint et Inkscape, GIMP nous servant pour les modifications additionnelles et la conversion des fichiers. Nous envisageons de mettre à la disposition du public nos sources originales et nous réfléchissons actuellement à la meilleure façon de le faire, compte tenu de leur taille (GitHut semble être un bon candidat pour l’instant1).
