This strip first appeared in issue #273 of Linux Magazine. This is based on some genuine advice I saw to always hire people more intelligent than you, in order to raise the average level in the company. I wondered what would happen if you took this idea to its logical conclusion.

Elvie: I always hire people who are more intelligent than I am, so that the average quality of the team goes up
[Panel 2: Elvie is at home on the sofa. Her hair and clothes are a mess, and there is food and rubbish on the floor. James has just poked his head through the door]
James: How's your new management role going?
Elvie: Not so good… I came bottom in the department IQ test, so they fired me!
Elvie: I always hire people who are more intelligent than I am, so that the average quality of the team goes up
