This strip first appeared in issue #232 of Linux (Pro) Magazine. It’s not really intended as a slight at The GIMP – it plays a vital role in creating these strips, after all. Rather it’s just a simple joke about one of the most commonly heard “complaints” about the program.
If you think took hard about it, you’ll realise it only really works as a joke in the printed version of the magazine. The online version is in sRGB format by necessity, and no CMYK conversion is actually needed. But you get the idea, I’m sure.

[James is using The GIMP on his laptop, and talking to Elvie]
James: I don't get what the big deal is about the lack of CMYK support in The GIMP.
After all, what's the worst that can happen -- the colours end up a little wrong?
[Elvie's half of the panel has seriously corrupted colours]
Elvie: Yeah, something like that…
